Wednesday, July 20 (2-3 p.m.): Wednesday Book Discussion – This month’s title is "Rock the Boat" by Beck Dorey-Stein. A limited number of books are available for checkout at the Circulation Desk. Please register.

Wednesday, July 20 (2-2:30 p.m.) Myrna Chelko Early Literacy Initiative Storytime – Members of WPPL's Myrna Chelko Early Literacy Initiative are invited to join Ms. Jamie for an afternoon of silly stories, songs and rhymes.For children up to age 4. These early literacy activities will help you earn badges toward completion of the MCELI. You must be eligible to join or have already joined the MCELI to attend this program. Wednesday, July 20 (2-2:45 p.m.) STEAM Challenge: Building for Hurricanes – Can you build a structure that can survive a simulated hurricane? We’ll provide the materials. You supply the creativity. Assemble your design team or build solo. Then we’ll test your creation in simulated hurricane conditions. For teens in grades 7-12. Please register.

Thursday, July 21 (9 a.m.-2 p.m.) Surplus Sale – The library will be selling used surplus items and other supplies. Stop by for bargains! All sales as-is and final.

Thursday, July 21 (11 a.m.-noon) WPPL’s Annual Egg Drop – Celebrate engineering during STEAM week with your design for the egg drop. Building starts at 11 a.m. in the Porter Room. Join us at noon in the library lobby for the official egg drop.

Thursday, July 21 (2-4 p.m.) Stories in Shadow – Watch Jacqueline Woodson's book, "The Other Side," performed with shadow puppets, then learn how to make shadow puppets of your own to help tell your own stories. Grades 2-5. Please register.

Thursday, July 21 (2-3:30 p.m.) Travel During the Pandemic: What You Need to Know – Karen Kulow, with Canary Travel, discusses the ins and outs of travel during the pandemic. She will explain what extra planning is needed to travel and vacation in our uncertain times. Please register.

Friday, July 22 (9:30-10 a.m.) Summer Yoga with Ms. Jen – Calm your body, mind and spirit in this yoga class taught by a certified yoga instructor. Wear comfy clothes and bring your own mat or towel. Ages 2-6, siblings welcome. Please register.

Fridays, July 22 and 29 (1-3 p.m.) Movies @ Your Library – Enjoy a feature-length newly released movie or favorite family classic! Contact Youth Services for specific title. All ages. Please register.

Friday, July 22 (4-4:45 p.m.) Fun Science Friday: Amazing Ants – Join Mrs. K as we explore the life cycle and habitat of an ant. We will be making an ant colony and learning what makes an insect unique. Ages 4-6, up to Kindergarten. Please register.

Saturday, July 23 (10 a.m.-noon) Jewelry Junction: Wire-Wrapped Beach Glass & Shell Pendant – Learn how to wire-wrap beach glass and shells using silver- or gold-plated wire. Please register.

Saturday, July 23 (11-11:45 a.m.) Adapted Storytime – Join us for this storytime designed for children who may not be successful in a typical storytime. Content is geared toward ages 3-7 years. Please register.

Saturday, July 23 (3-4 p.m.) Illustration Creation – Learn about a featured illustrator and then create a project inspired by their art. Grades 1-3. Please register.

Saturday, July 23 (3-4:30 p.m.) Art Walk – Enjoy a low impact walk in Clague Park and take nature photographs. Meet at the parking lot off Roman Lane, closest to the pond. Dress for the weather and bring water! The library will provide devices for participants. You may use your own camera, phone, or other device, if you prefer. Photography will be featured in the library gallery in September. For adults with disabilities and caregivers. Please register.

Sunday, July 24 (2-3 p.m.) Art Smarts – Explore works of a well-known artist and then use what you’ve seen to create an art piece of your own! Grades 3-6. Please register.

Monday, July 25 (9 a.m.-9 p.m.) Off the Beaten Path Craft Kit Pick-Up – Celebrate our Summer Reading theme with some fun crafts! Kits will be available until closing on Aug. 1, unless other arrangements are made. Please register.

Monday, July 25 (10-10:30 a.m.) Music Monday – Develop pre-reading skills with music, movement and rhythm through stories, songs, and rhymes. Ages 2-6. Please register.

Monday, July 25 (1-3 p.m.) Sensory Friendly Movie – A sensory-friendly environment including more light, less sound, and the option to move around the room will help families enjoy this free movie screening. All ages. Please register.

Monday, July 25 (2-3 p.m.) Teen Craft: Handmade Jewelry (Cabochon Necklaces) – During this craft session you’ll learn how to make your own cabochon necklace. Grades 7-12. Registration available, but drop-ins are welcome (space limited).

Tuesday, July 26 (9:30-9:55 a.m.) Stories and Signs – Enjoy interactive stories, songs and movement activities while learning a few words in sign language. Siblings are welcome! Ages birth-3. Please register.

Tuesday, July 26 (2-2:30 p.m.) Reading Buddies – Partner up with one of our teen reading buddies to practice your reading skills and share your favorite stories! Grades 1-3. Registration begins one week before each session.

Wednesday, July 27 (3-4 p.m.) Family Game and Puzzle Time – Put together a puzzle or enjoy a game at the library! You can bring your own or use one of ours! Ages 3-12. Families can gather and have fun in an understanding and empathetic environment. This program is inclusive and is for those with disabilities and typical peers. Registration begins July 20.

Wednesday, July 27 (7-8 p.m.) Adult Creative Writing Group – Join us for an hour of creative writing prompts to inspire you to start and keep writing. Creativity is more than putting pen to paper. It’s about breaking away and trying something new! Please register.

Thursday, July 28 (10-10:45 a.m.) Baby Beach Party – Join in the fun as we celebrate summer with beach-themed stories, songs, rhymes, and more! Beach towels or blankets and sunglasses welcome! Ages 0-2. Registration begins July 21.

Friday, July 29 (4-5 p.m.) Brick Builders – Do you love Legos? Bring your ideas and imagination to Brick Builders! Bricks provided. No registration required, but room capacity is limited. Ages 5-12.

Saturday, July 30 (10 a.m.-5 p.m.) Westlake-Bay Village Rotary Art Festival – Join the Westlake-Bay Village Rotary for this free event featuring dozens of artists, food and drink, and music throughout the day. Park next door at Westlake Elementary School.

Saturday, July 30 (10:30-11 a.m.) Family Storytime – Join us for rhymes, songs and play! For families with children ages 2-6. Siblings are welcome. Registration begins July 23.

Sunday, July 31 (2-3 p.m.) Come Play With Me – An open playtime for children ages 2-5 with a caring adult. Siblings welcome! No registration required but room capacity is limited.
