Sotheby’s will hold three online sales of Japanese works of art that run from October 22 and close from November 2-5.

They are titled The Samurai: Japanese Arms and Armour; Japanese Art of the Meiji Period, 1868-1912 and Pursuit of an Ideal: Fine Japanese Works of Art.

The Meiji sale includes cloisonné enamels from the collection of the late John Okladek and his wife Muriel. The couple owned an extensive array of pieces from the celebrated Namikawa Yasuyuki (1845-1927) workshop including this fine 8in (20cm) silver wire cloisonné enamel floral decorated baluster vase signed on a silver tablet Kyoto Namikawa.
